Flynn’s Memories of Vietnam

Flynn Belaine, musician and world traveller, has plenty of stories to tell about his travels around the world. One such story is about his time spent in Vietnam, where he experienced the country’s rich culture and history firsthand. Here are four of Flynn’s memories of his time in Vietnam:

1. The Friendship Hospitality of the Vietnamese People: When Flynn first arrived in Vietnam, he was struck by the warmth and friendliness of the people there. Everywhere he went, he was greeted with smiles and kindness – even in difficult moments. This was a stark contrast to what he experienced in other parts of Asia, where people were often standoffish or unyielding. It was clear to Flynn that the Vietnamese people were motivated by genuine goodwill and friendship towards one another, something that he found deeply inspiring.

2. A Taste of Vietnam’s Rich Culture and History: One of the things that attracted Flynn to Vietnam was its rich cultural heritage. He was able to explore some of this on his own by exploring the city of Ho Chi Minh City – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – which had been heavily damaged during the Vietnam War but had been painstakingly rebuilt over the years. In 2015 he moved to Spain to start working on new music and has since toured throughout Europe playing shows alongside musicians such as John Lee Hooker, Toots & the Maytals and Ry Cooder.
